Continuing our National Chemistry Week theme of “Chemistry Rocks!”, we
have a tour of the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) scheduled for
Sunday, June 4th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event will include an
introduction and tour of the exhibitions with AMOCA’s Executive Director,
Beth Ann Gerstein. David Armstrong, AMOCA’s Founder, will lead a tour of
the ceramic studio to share the process of making, firing, and glazing the
ceramics. Roy DeSelms, PHD in Chemistry from Stanford University and an
authority on Mettlach German wares, will share information on crystalline
glazes and Liebig’s seltzer bottles. After the tours, you are free to
explore the museum on your own.
