Biography: Sister Mary Virginia Orna is a chemistry professor who has been on the faculty at the College of New Rochelle in New York for 50 years. She has lectured and published widely in the areas of color chemistry and archeological chemistry. She has been active in several divisions of the American Chemical Society and has chaired many important programs. She has received funding and awards in both chemistry and in education, including the CASE New York State Professor of the Year and National Gold Medalist Award. Most significantly, she received the highest award for Volunteer Service from the American Chemical Society.
