President & CEO of Berg Family of Companies

7:00 p.m. Dinner
8:00 p.m. Presentation

Abstract: The California Air Resource Board (CARB) is celebrating 40 years of improving our State’s air quality. CARB has the responsibility to attain both federal and state air quality standards within the State of California but do you know what role the 34 local air quality management districts play? Does CARB create or implement legislation? Who decides what an air pollutant is, who is emitting that pollutant, and how to reduce those emissions? With 40 years of regulation why do we still have an air quality challenge? And now with the concern of greenhouse gas and global warming, what is the future of clean air and the cost to industry to achieve the air quality standards? Join Sandy Berg, CARB Board Member, in a discussion on why we all want to be CARB Conscious.

Biography: In May 2007, Sandra celebrated 30 years with the Berg Family of Companies, 15 of those years as President & CEO. The two cornerstone businesses for the Berg Family of Companies are Ellis Paint Company, a specialty paint manufacturer with expertise in industrial and automotive refinish coatings is celebrating 120 years in business, and Pacific Recovery Services (PRS), an EPA permitted TSDF facility recycling paint related waste streams. No stranger to regulation, the coatings and waste management business has been regulated since the early 80’s especially here in the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Proactive compliance and community outreach have been key elements which set both Ellis Paint Company and PRS apart from their competition.

In 2004, Sandra was appointed to the California Air Resources Board by Governor Schwarzenegger. Combining her leadership in business and community efforts, Sandra brings a practical yet dedicated perspective to her board service.

Sandra serves on several business, professional and philanthropic boards. They include: California Air Resources Board, National Paint and Coatings Association, Washington DC, World Presidents’ Organization City of Angels Chapter, Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation, Hawaii Forest and Trail and Maven Design House.
