Abstract: Earle Hartling, the recycling coordinator for the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County (Districts) will present a primer on recycling municipal wastewater: how to clean it without contaminating the air or soil; and how to recycle it safely, responsibly, and effectively.

The Districts operate eleven wastewater treatment facilities that serve approximately five million people in 78 cities and unincorporated county areas within Los Angeles County stretching from the high desert to the Pacific Ocean. Ten of those plants are classified as water reclamation plants (WRPs) that produce nearly 200 million gallons of reclaimed water each day.

Biography: Earle Hartling has over 26 years of experience at the Sanitation Districts. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology and a Master degree in Environmental Engineering, both from Loyola Marymount University.

Reservations: Please call Nancy Paradiso in the Section Office at (310) 327-1216 or email office-at-scalacs-dot-org by Monday, October 22, 2007. The cost of the dinner is $22 per person. The Mexican food buffet will be catered in by La Poblana Mexican Food Restaurant and includes chicken fajitas, steak (beef) picado, rice, beans, cheese enchiladas, tortillas, salads, chips and salsa, and soft drinks.
